Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a poor farmer and his wife. They had a very special goose.
Every morning, the goose laid one beautiful golden egg!
The farmer could hardly believe his eyes. He took the golden egg to the market and sold it for a lot of money. Soon, the farmer and his wife had enough food, nice clothes, and a comfortable home.
Every day, the goose laid another golden egg.
The farmer became richer and richer.
The Farmer Becomes Greedy
After some time, the farmer started thinking.
โIf the goose lays one golden egg every day, there must be many golden eggs inside her!โ he said.
He became impatient and greedy. He did not want to wait for one egg each day anymore.
So, the farmer decided to cut open the goose to take all the golden eggs at once.
A Big Mistake
The farmer carefully cut open the goose.
But inside, there were no golden eggs at all.
The goose was just like any other goose.
Now the farmer had lost his magical goose forever.
He could no longer get golden eggs every day.
The farmer and his wife felt very sad and realized they had made a terrible mistake.
Moral of the Story
Greed can make us lose what we already have.
It is better to be patient and thankful for what we receive.
